POOLS AND OPEN DECKS
EXPLORER OF
THE SEAS
PHOTO TOUR
AND
COMMENTARY
At the center of Explorer's open decks
is the main swimming pool area.
The two pools are surrounded by
whirl pools and terraced deck chairs.
The Solarium area is just forward of the main pool area but is calmer and more relaxed. Decorated in
the style of a Roman villa, it has a pool, two whirlpools, and its own bar.
The centerpiece of Explorer's sports deck is the rock
climbing wall towering 200 feet above the sea on the back
of the ship's funnel (left). Next to the climbing wall is the
Sports Court which can be used for basketball, volley ball
and paddle tennis (above).
Back near the Sports Court is Explorer's nine hole miniature
golf course called Explorer Dunes (left).
Looping past the deck
chairs on Deck 12 is the
outdoor jogging track
(left).
Guests can observe what
the officers on the ship's
navigation bridge are
doing through the
windows on the
Peek-A-Boo Bridge
(right)
(For more about the
naviagtion bridge see the
Bridge Page on this Tour)
Explorer has its own dive and snorkel
shop Sea Trek on Deck 11 (right).
Passengers can walk
around the entire ship on
Decks 4 and 5. The
outdoor promenade on
Deck 4 includes
shuffleboard courts
(right) and towards the
stern of the ship, it hangs
over the water (below left).
To go all the way around
the ship, one must climb a
set of stairs which takes
one to the observation area
on Deck 5 (below right).
The area marked with an
"H" can be cleared to allow
helicopters to land.
