The Independence Day Spa
covers portions of two decks. In the
spa area itself, it offers a variety of
treatments including massages,
facilas and teeth whitening. (see
menu of services).

Amongst the spa facilities are
treatment rooms (left and right),
saunas (below left) and steam rooms
(below right.

Independence has three pool areas. The
furtherest forward of these is the
Solarium. This is an adults-only area
with a serene atmosphere. In addition to
the pool, it features better quality
loungers, and furniture (right) as well as
two large whirlpools that are cantelevered
over the sides of the ship (below right).

Aft of the Solarium is the Main Pool Area. It
has two pools, the Main Pool and the Sports
Pool, which lie next to each other. Also included
in the complex are a bandstand (left) and
whirlppols (right).

Going further aft on Deck 11, one
comes to the H2O Zone. Geared
toward children, it features water
spray cannons, umbrella jets, ground
gushers, waterfalls and brightly
colored sculptures.

In addition to the pool areas, a
substantial portion of
Independence's open decks are
devoted to physical activites.
These include the trademark
Royal Caribbean Rock
Climbing Wall built into the
forward funnel (above left).
A jogging track winds its way
around Deck 12, overlooking
the pool areas (above).   The
Sports Court (above right) can
be used for full court
basketball as well as other
games. There is a challenging
nine hole Mini-golf course
(right) as well as a golf
simulator (not shown).    The
more adventurous can try the
Flow Rider surfing simulator
(below left and right).

On the lower decks, it is possible to circumnavigate the
entire ship. For most of the distance, the Promenade is
sheltered by the lifeboats. The shuffleboard courts are
located in this area.

The spa complex includes the Fitness Center. In addition to fitness
classes, this area has a large area for aerobics (above), a full-size
boxing ring (above left) , free weights (below left), weight training
machines (below center) as well as cardiovascular exercise machines
(below right).

The spa also includes the Salon
where guests can have their hair
styled, get a manicure or pedicure
amongst other things. (see menu
