DINING
Cunard, as befits a line so dedicated to preserving ocean liner
traditions, follows the traditional approach to dining, i.e., having
assigned tables and seatings.  This allows the guests to develop a
relationship with the serving staff over the course of the voyage as
well as to develop the comradely with other guests that often comes
from dining together several times over the course of an ocean
voyage.
The main dining room on QUEEN VICTORIA is the
Britannia
Restaurant
located at the stern of the ship.  It encompasses two
decks with a balcony overlooking the central area.  This area is
highlighted by a large bronze and glass globe derived from the
symbol on the Cunard house flag - - a lion holding a globe (above).
Directly underneath the globe is the captain's table.  (The captain
and senior officers host tables in the dining room on formal nights).
Looking upwards, there is a spectacular glass and bronze lighted
ceiling (left).  There are windows on three sides of the room giving
the tables light during the open-seating breakfasts and lunches.

The Todd English Restaurant, named for the
Boston restaurateur who developed the menu, is
the ship's extra-tariff dining room.  It is decorated
in a style reminiscent of the upper class Victorian
restaurants of the late 19th Century with leather
banquettes and draped columns.  One might expect
to see Lilly Langtry or Sarah Bernhardt in the next
booth.
The fare is described as "innovative
Mediterranean cuisine".   The restaurant does not
seek to out-do the ship's other dining rooms but
rather present meals with a different style of
cooking and ingredients.

Located on Deck 9 near the ship's swimming pools is the Lido Cafe, the ship's informal buffet restaurant.  It
seats 468 guests and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  For dinner, the area is transformed into two bistros
with reserved seating and "experimental culinary journeys" into cuisines of the world.    The serving area is
spacious.  The room is done in light colors and offers panoramic views.
  Cafe Carinthia, named after
a former Cunard ships, offers
specialty coffee, teas, pastries,
and sandwiches.
Other dining areas on the ship
include the Golden Lion Pub
(see page 4), which provides
traditional English pub dishes at
lunch time, and an outdoor grill
by the aft swimming pool that
offers hamburgers and other
light fare.
