On 22 April 2010, both Queen Mary 2 and Queen
Victoria were in Southampton, England. It turned
out to be a beautiful clear day, ideal for observing
the only two Cunard Queens now in service.
Queen Victoria was docked at the Mayflower
Cruise Terminal (above) while Queen Mary 2
occupied the new Ocean Terminal (left).
Queen Victoria was scheduled to leave port first.
Meanwhile, back at the Ocean
Terminal, QM2 was preparing to sail.
After letting go her lines, QV proceeded up river to the turning basin where she executed a 180 degree turn.
She then started on her way toward the sea.
As QV passed the Ocean Terminal, the horns of the two Cunarders exchanged salutes. QV then proceeded down
Southampton Water to the sea.
QM2 backed out of her berth and made a 90 degree turn.
QM2 then followed her fleetmate
out to sea.
