CROWN
PRINCESS
PRINCESS CRUISES
The coming of Crown Princess was a turning
point for Princess Cruises.  Yes, she was based
upon a design that had first been unveiled with
Grand Princess some eight year before.  Yes,
she was like
Caribbean Princess in that she had
one more deck than the original Grand class
ships.  But her interior design included new
concepts and a decor that gave the ship a
feeling of cosmopolitan elegance that had not
been seen before.  Subsequently, Princess has
built two ships,
Ruby Princess and Emerald
Princess, that are virtually identical to Crown
Princess and rolled out many of the concepts
that premiered on Crown Princess into its
existing fleet.  In short, Crown Princess became
the model for the Princess cruise experience.

The atmosphere of Crown Princess is
embodied in The Piazza.  More than a
multi-deck atrium, this area is also a dining and
entertainment venue. Something is always
happening - - it is lively and dynamic.
Furthermore, the use of marble and
European-inspired design, gives it a feel of
sumptuous luxury.

At the same time, this is not a stuffy ship.  The
daytime dress code is sportswear and casual
clothes.  There are formal nights but the
remainder are casual.  Trivia contests are
popular but they also enjoy a party.

Passengers on Crown Princess tend to be
sophisticated but at the same time are looking
for a relaxed experience.  Most willingly
participate in the formal nights but most
probably would not want every night to be a
formal night.

Since entering service in 2006, Crown Princess
has sailed the Atlantic and adjoining seas.  Her
first few summers were spent sailing from New
York with her winters sailing the Caribbean.
More recently, she has spent her summers in
Europe.
The Piazza is more than the ship's
central atrium.  It is a center of activity
with entertainment, shopping, dining and
drinking all taking place in or around it.

Crown Princess' art
collection does not call
attention to itself.  Rather, it
blends into the ship's overall
decor.  Most of the pieces
are contemporary and most
are located within the stair
towers.
The Passenger Services Desk (above) and the
Shore Excursions Desk (right) are located next to
each other on Deck 6 overlooking the Piazza.

The
Future Cruise Sales Office is part of an area
that includes computers for accessing Princess Cruises'
website and which has racks of brochures about
Princess Cruises (below).

The
Captain's Circle Loyalty Desk is on Deck 7
not far from the theater (below right).
