DINING
The Main Dining Rooms
Princess was one of the first cruise lines to offer
a choice of traditional dining in which guests
dine at the same time each night with the same
companions and table staff and a flexible dining
option in which guests decide when to dine.
Two of the three main dining rooms are
dedicated to the flexible dining option "Anytime
Dining". The other restaurant takes the
traditional approach.
The two Anytime dining rooms are located on
top of each other and are nearly identical except
for the paintings. The traditional restaurant is
very similar but since it is aft, there are
windows overloking the stern.
The menus in all three restaurants are the same.
(See menu).
Above right and left: The DaVinci Dining
Room is on the Anytime Dining system. It is
also the only one of the main dining rooms that
is open for breakfast and lunch. Both of those
meals are open seating. It also offers Afternoon
Tea.
Right and left: The Michelangelo Dining
Room is also on the Anytime Dining system.
Below right and left: The traditional Botticelli
Dining Room. It has two seatings for dinner:
6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
The Baked Alaska parade in which the waiters
march around the dining room carrying these
ice cream and marange confections is a
passenger ship tradition still followed on
Emerald Princess.
SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS
Sabatini's is named after a 200-year old
institution in Florecence Italy. It has
also become an institution on Princess
ships offering a menu of elegant Italian
cusine. During each meal, the guests
receive an array of appetizers, a pasta
dish and an entree. It is topped off by
one of Sabatini's specialty desserts.
On Emerald Princess, Sabatini's is
located on Deck 16 high atop the stern
of the ship giving it spectacular views.
In addition to the beautifully decorated
interior dining room, there is an
outdoor terrace.
Guests staying in the suites on Emerald
Princess may have breakfast in
Sabatini's for no additional charge.
The Crown Grill is an evolution of the Sterling Steakhouses on earlier Princess
ships. It is larger and has a more developed menu. Modeled on a New York
premium steak house, there are large photographs of New York on the dark wood
paneled walls. The menu features aged cuts of meat and seafood such as Maine and
Brazilian lobster (see menu) Guests can choose to watch the meals being prepared
by sitting at the counter in front of the theater-style kitchen or can be seated int the
club-like dining areas.. As the name suggests, this restaurant first debuted on
Crown Princess and was an immediate hit. Accordingly, it has been carried
forward onto all subsequent Princess Grand-class ships.
THE BUFFETS The Horizon
Court and Cafe Caribe are two
adjacent buffet areas on Lido
Deck, whichs provide food
around the clock. The Horizon
Court offers breakfast, lunch and
light snacks during the day. Cafe
Caribe offers a dinner buffet, a
late night bistro dinner and
pastries and beverages in the wee
hours of the morning.
OTHER VENUES
The International Cafe, (above left and right) located in the Piazza area, provides an excellent vantage point to
watch the Piazza entertainment or to just watch the world go by. It offers specialty coffees, pastries, sandwiches and
for a small charge, premium Italian gelato. In addition, it doubles as a cocktail lounge (above).
