DAWN
PRINCESS
PHOTO TOUR
AND
COMMENTARY
OVERVIEW
Dawn Princess is the second of four ships in the Sun Princess
class (the others are Sun Princess, Sea Princess, and Oceana
(formerly Ocean Princess) now with sister company P&O
Cruises).
The ship is decorated in a contemporary style, generally
embracing modern design over traditional decor. At the same
time, the ship is well-maintained and has a very polished look.
In 2009, Dawn Princess underwent an extensive drydock
refurbishment. This included the addition of a giant 300 square
foot LED outdoor movie screen and of the Sanctuary, an
adults-only outdoor retreat. In addition, there was extensive
re-upholstering of furniture, new carpets, painting and
refurbishment of the decks.
The ship is now based in Australia and serves the Australian
market. The ship's style remains the worldwide Princess style of
casual luxury but there have been some modifications to reflect
the market that the ship now serves. For example, prices onboard
are in Australian dollars.
Passengers on Dawn Princess tend to be Australians and New
Zealanders. Because the ship does a number of longer cruises
including a world cruise, the passengers also tend to be more
experienced cruisers.
In addition to the world cruise, Dawn Princess sails to various
destinations in the South Pacific, Hawaii, New Zealand and
around Australia.
The Reception Desk (above), the Captain's Circle Desk
(Princess' past passenger loyalty program) (above left
and Shore Excursions (left) are located in the lobby.
Dawn Princess' multi-million dollar art collection is
primarily composed of modern abstract pieces.

The central staircase connects the upper
lobby (above) with the lower lobby (below).
The centerpiece of Dawn Princess is a
spectacular four-deck high atrium.
At the base of the atrium is the lobby, which
acts as the ship's town square.
