OVERVIEW

Regatta is the flag ship of the Oceania Cruises fleet.  She is an
intimate, well-designed ship with an outstanding traditional decor.

This ship began life as R Two of Renaissance Cruises.  She
is one of eight nearly identical ships built for Renaissance.  After
that line went out of business the fleet was dispersed amongst a
number of cruise lines.  Eventually, Oceania obtained Regatta,
and Nautica (R Five).  Her other sisters are now with
Hapag
Lloyd Cruises - - Columbus 2 (R One);
 Azamara Club Cruises -
-
Azamara Journey (R  Six) and Azamara Quest (R  Seven);
Princess Cruises - - Pacific Princess (R Three); Ocean Princess
(R Four)  (
see our profile of Ocean Princess); and P&O Cruises -
-Adonia R Eight) (
see our profile of Adonia).

The R-class ships, as they are known, have gone on achieve
a considerable reputation.  Although thy are relatively small, they
have the comforts that one would expect in a high quality modern
cruise ship.  The wood-paneled decor of their public rooms and
their British country-house furnishings create an atmosphere of
luxury that is at the same time welcoming and charming.

Building upon this atmosphere, Oceania has overlaid the
atmosphere of a prestigious American-style country club. Regatta
is elegant but casual, tuxedos and gowns are not required.
Quality is evident in the attention given to the dining experience
as it is in the selection of Canyon Ranch as the operator of the
ship's spa.

Regatta is offered as a luxury cruise experience.  The cruise
fare includes all of the dining venues including the two specialty
restaurants.   Soft drinks, bottled water, cappuccino, espresso,
teas and juices are free.  Air fare is also included.   The
staff-to-guest ratio is one of the best in the industry.

Another feature of the R-class ships is that they are small
enough to get into ports that larger ships cannot but yet
seaworthy enough so that they can range the world's oceans.
Accordingly, Regatta is used to do relatively long cruises that are
port-intensive.  Thus, within a given year, she can be cruising in
Europe as well as in the East Coast of North America, the
Caribbean and the West Coast.

This combination of itinerary and atmosphere attracts
mature travelers, discerning travelers who are looking for cruises
that are different from those of the larger ships, and travelers
interested in high quality dining experiences.

The central staircase lies at the heart of
the ship.
The Reception Desk (above

Shore Excursions
(above right)  are located in the
lower lobby while the
Future
Cruise Desk
(right) is located
at the top of the central staircase
in the upper lobby.
Passengers can relax in the club-like lobby.
Regatta's art collection includes traditional European and American works that harmonize
with the traditional decor as well as abstract pieces that offer a note of contrast.

The central of the public areas is a two-deck lobby.  It is
wood-paneled and decorated more like a living room than a
cruise ship lobby.  Linking the two levels is a charming
staircase.  The lower lobby includes two large sitting areas.
