DINING
Perhaps the best known feature of
Freestyle Cruising is the flexible dining
system. Unlike the traditional system,
passengers are not assigned to a specific
table in the ship's dining room and there
are no designated meal times. Rather,
passengers can choose which of the
various dining venues that they wish to
dine in and what time they wish to eat.
Above: Located around the ship are restaurant guides showing the
status of each of the dining venues. Passengers can see which
restaurants are open, how full the restaurants are and which ones
have waiting times.
Windows Main Dining Room is located at the stern of the ship and is
named for its two-deck high windows overlooking the ship's wake. Of all the
ship's dining venues, it is the one most similar to the grand dining rooms of it

The Garden Room Main Dining Room is located amidships. However, the large
windows on either side of this U-shaped room provide enough light to avoid the dark
enclosed feel that sometimes plagues midship dining rooms. Its 366 person capacity is
not as large as the Windows dining room but it nonetheless has a variety of seating
arrangements. The overall style is Asian, upscale and restrained, with beautiful
touches of flowers.
Le Bistro French Restaurant is a small,
intimate room done in a late 19th Century
French style. Although denominated a bistro,
the restaurant is much more upscale and
offers a gourmet menu. These venues are a
very popular feature of the NCL ships and
are always in demand. There is an additional
charge for this restaurant.
Cagney's Steakhouse is another popular standard feature on NCL
ships. The name derives from actor James Cagney and the decor on
some of the ships recalls his roles in 1930s crime movies. However, on
Spirit, the intimate room that houses this venue does not have any 1930s
overtones but rather is done in a sophisticated style with an Asian
influence. There is an additional charge for this restaurant.
Shogun Asian Restaurant
(upper left) is part of a are
adjacent to one another.
This venue features
Pan-Asian cuisine that
includes elements of
Japanese, Thai, and Chinese
cuisines. A portion of the
restaurant can be sectioned
off as the Samurai Room
(lower left). Also in this
complex is the Teppanyaki
(lower right) where guests sit
at a table for 10 and the chef
prepares the meal at the
table. The food is also
prepared before your eyes at
the Sushi and Sashimi
Bar (upper right). There are
extra charges for these
restaurants.
The Blue Lagoon Cafe
is an essentially
around-the-clock venue
for snacks and light fare.
It is informal and
light-hearted.
Raffles Court and Raffles Terrace are Spirit's self-serve buffet
restaurants. The Court is inside while the Terrace is outdoors
overlooking the stern.
The Café is located in the lobby and
serves coffee drinks and pastries
