OVERVIEW

NORWEGIAN DAWN is a fairly large ship
serving the mass market.   However, her interior
appointments and decor are high quality.  Indeed,
they rival those of most premium market ships and
high end modern hotels.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the ship's art
collection.  While it has become common place for
cruise ships to have multi-million dollar art
collections, DAWN carries significant works by
museum-class masters including Renoir, Van Gogh,
and Warhol.
As on most ships, the accommodations become
more luxurious as the price increases.
NCL distinguishes itself from its competitors
through a philosophy of Freestyle Cruising.  The
goal is to allow the passenger the maximum in
flexibility in planning his or her day.  This manifests
itself most clearly in relation to dining and in things
like disembarkation (i.e., there is no assigned time
when a particular stateroom must be vacated).
Until the winter of 2007-2008, NORWEGIAN
DAWN cruised year-round out of New York.  (In
2007-2008, she will be replaced by fleet-mate
NORWEGIAN GEM).  When NCL began this
practice in 2003, there was considerable skepticism
in the industry as to whether a modern cruise ship
could handle the sometimes difficult weather
conditions associated with a New York winter.
However, DAWN proved that a cruise ship could
succeed in New York in the winter and other cruise
lines have followed suit.
