DINING
EXPLORER OF
THE SEAS
TOUR
AND
COMMENTARY
Dining on Explorer of the Seas follows the traditional two-seating
approach with each guest having a reserved table for dinner.
Breakfast and lunch are open seating.
The spectacular main dining room is divided into three separate
and distinct dining levels each named after a famous explorer.
There are also two adjoining smaller rooms that can be used for
private dining. There is a great variety in the seating
arrangements and the size of tables. Below left: The Captain's
table is amongst the large tables on the floor of the multi-level
atrium. There are tables for six along the windows (below) and
tables by four by the murals (second below).
Left: Parades of chefs and singing waiters provide after dinner
entertainment.
Cafe Promenade is the sidewalk cafe on the Royal Promenade. Among the items guests can obtain
are pizza, sandwiches and fruit. For an extra charge, there is Ben &Jerry's ice cream and Seattle's
Best Coffee.
Near the Sports area is Johnny Rockets, a 1950s style dinner featuring burgers. Despite the small extra
charge, this venue is extremely popular.
Explorer's premium
extra-tariff
restaurant is
Portofino, an upscale
Euro-Italian
restaurant, which
according to RCI,
"was designed with
romance in mind."
The Windjammer Cafe is
the ship's buffet venue.
Located high on the ship
on Deck 11, it offers
stunning views as well as a
variety of food.
In the evenings, the
Windjammer is an
alternative casual dining
venue with buffet and table
service.
The Island Grill, which is
included in the buffet area,
also serves grilled entrees
in the evenings.
Below left: The Arctic
Zone is a popular soft ice
cream/frozen yogurt
station.
