EXPLORER OF
THE SEAS
PHOTO TOUR
AND
COMMENTARY
The Palace is a four-deck high,
1,350-seat theater inspired by the Fin de
Siecle European Music Hall. It is home
for the ship's production cast and is used
for visiting entertainers, bingo, and
other activities. The Palace also has a
bar and bar service.
Casino Royale is Explorer's large
gambling venue. Making extravagant
use of color and neon, it conveys the
feeling of a Las Vegas casino,
complete with life-size showgirl
statues and a statue of Elvis, albeit
not in his Las Vegas days. Included
in the area are computerized gaming,
some 300 slot machines; and 10
blackjack tables, three Caribbean
Stud Tables; three American roulette
wheels and a craps table. The Casino
also has its own bar.

Another Royal Caribbean innovation was the introduction of
ice skating rinks on cruise ships. Studio B is used both for
skating by guests and for the very popular and impressive
professional ice shows. In addition, the ice can be covered and
the arena is used for concerts and a popular Royal Caribbean
game called The Quest.

The Royal Promenade is also an
entertainment venue. Members of the
ship's company don costumes and parade
down the Promenade. On other nights,
there are street parties during which
members of the entertainment staff perform
above the crowd on a bridge that spans
across the promenade.
