OVERVIEW
Constellation is an elegant and sophisticated ship. The
interior is restrained good taste. For the most part, it is a
contemporary design but there are some rooms that were
inspired by styles of another era. However, even in those
areas, the atmosphere is one of conservative refinement.
With the exception of the casino, there is nothing gaudy
about the decor.
The primary target market for this ship is the
accomplished, successful baby-boomers. Consequently,
there is an emphasis on service with the ship having a low
crew to passenger ratio of 1:1.9.
Celebrity has drawn together the various elements of its
onboard activities program under the unifying concept of
Celebrity Life. The program has three main areas
focusing on: enrichment activities including lectures done
in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institute and a foreign
language program; cuisine including wine tastings; and
wellness-related activities including spa services. (See
article). Guests can do as many or as few of these
activities as they desire. However, the program gives the
guests a series of sophisticated options.
The fourth and final ship in Celebrity's Millennium class,
Constellation incorporates some of the latest maritime
technology. She has two azimuthal pods, rather than the
traditional propellers and shaft propulsion system. In
addition, her engines are powered by gas turbines, which
are a cleaner system than the diesel engines used by most
ships. However, because of the high cost of running gas
turbines, an diesel engine has been retrofitted into all the
ships of this class,
In 2010, Constellation became the first ship in the
Millennium class to be "Solsticized." This involved taking
a number of features that have proven popular on
Celebrity's Solstice class ships and weaving them into
Constellation. Celebrity managed to do this while still
retaining the overall atmosphere of the Constellation.

Most of the interaction between management and the
guests takes place at the base of the Grand Foyer on
Plaza Deck Above: The Guests Relations desk.
Above right: The Concierge Desk. Middle right: The
Captain's Club desk for repeat Celebrity passengers.
Lower right: The Shore Excursions office. Below
middle: Next door is the Future Cruise Office.
Below left: The Port Shopping desk, however, is
located on Promenade Deck.
The central atrium is dominated by a large staircase
ascending between multi-story pillars. The style is
reminiscent of the art deco liners of the 1930s.
Constellation has an
extensive. high quality
art collection, featuring
primarily contemporary
works.
