The Caribbean Lounge is the venue for the
shows and occasional lectures by the cruise
director.
PUBLIC ROOMS
and AMENITIES
As on most large ships these days, most of
the public rooms are relatively low in the ship
with the remainder located near the open deck
space at the top of the ship.
Also, as on most modern ships, the heart of the
ship is a multi-story atrium with glass enclosed
elevators connecting the decks.  At the very
bottom, is the art gallery while at the top there is
access to the pools and the open decks.  In
between,  one passes the Purser's Information
Desk, the Tour Office, the Seven Seas Bar, the
shops,  the library, and the photo gallery.
Nearby, is the ship's multi-story theater called
The Caribbean Lounge.  It has a full-sized stage
on which the ship's production shows are
performed.  These shows appeal to the senses
with bright lights, glittering (and revealing)
costumes, and music that is geared toward
people who grew up in the second half of the
20th Century.  Not cerebral but then it was not
meant to be.  Just relax and let the experience
wash over you.
The Caribbean Lounge was also the venue for
shows performed by two comedians.  Each of
the comedians did one set following a
production show and then a separate "R-rated"
set after midnight which those passengers who
were "easily offended" could avoid.  Of course,
the after midnight sets were packed to the
rafters as word spread around the ship that
there was going to be an offensive show in the
theater.  In actuality, the after midnight sets,
although the comedians performed different
material, were not significantly more risqué than
the earlier sets.  Still, everyone seemed to have
a good time.
Having a good time is what Carnival is all about
and as the company's advertisements promise,
there are numerous means available to help
passengers achieve this goal.  In addition, a
friendly cruise staff attempts to facilitate the
quest for fun by conducting trivia contests and
other enjoyable games for those who do not
take themselves overly seriously.
The South China Sea Club is a large casino
with slot machines as well as roulette and
other tables.  It also includes a bar and an
area where a rock band holds forth.  It is a
very popular area.
The Internet Cafe  is nicely decorated
and offers specials from time to time.
The ship's shops surround the atrium.  The
quality of the merchandise in the logo shop was
better than on most ships.  The photo shop
seemed to be doing a land office business
whenever it was open.
The Adriatic Lounge at the stern of the ship
was the venue for the Captain's Receptions
(one for each dining room seating) on the
formal night.  It is also used for karaoke.
A well-equipped fitness center looks
out over the bow.

Massages are available
in the ship's spa.
Club O2 is for the exclusive use of
teenagers.
The hair salon.
Much of the activity takes place on the open decks.
Even going through a thick morning fog, sun
worshippers have begun to occupy the deck chairs.
The open deck area beneath the lifeboats provides
a quiet, secluded alternative to the open decks on
the top of the ship.
The water slide tends to be utilized
mostly be youngsters.
The extensive Camp Carnival
program for children has its won
dedicated area including a pool.
Deck chairs ring a bandstand like an
amphitheater located at the center of
the open deck.  A Caribbean band
serenades the sun worshippers.
The miniature gold course.  There is
also a gold instructor who offers
lessons for use on larger fairways.
