DINING
CARNIVAL
SPLENDOR
PHOTO TOUR
AND
COMMENTARY
There are two main dining
rooms - - the Gold
Pearl (above right) and
the Black Pearl (below
left). Ship designer Joe
Farcus has explained:
"The central idea that ties
the rooms together is the
concept of sumptuous
elegance. We used
elements like pearls, gold
leaf and wood grains to
give the ship a feeling of
richness."
The menus in the two
restaurants are the same.
According to Hotel
Director, Guna Chellam,
"the Carnival food" is one
of the reasons Carnival has
so many repeat passengers.
Food and Beverage
Manager Francis
Mekkattukulam adds that
the food "is an ever
evolving process. We take
all the feedback we receive
from guets and get a feel
for what the guets needs
are. For example, we have
included more healthy
options."
While the emphasis is on
service, the waiters also
perform - - singing and
dancing at the end of the
meals..
Splendor's alternative extra-tariff specialty restaurant is the
Pinnacle Steakhouse. This venue features a premium
menu including dry aged, hand cut USDA prime beef and
12-ounce lobster tails (see menu). However, what also makes
it stand out is the five-star service. The waiters are attentive
and give knoweldgable explanations of the menu. A chef
brings out to your table, a specially-prepared dish.
Meanwhile, there is live music and dancing.
Chief among the casual alterntaive
dining is The Lido. This is an
extensive buffet open for breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
Adjacent to the Lido
are a number of more
specialized casual
venues. The
Rotissere overlooks
the main buffet from
Deck 11.
A new feature on Carnival Splendor is a
permanent Indian buffet restaurant located by
the Lido Pool.
Of course, there is the Pizzeria by
the Splendido Pool.
Another popular venue, especially at lunch time,
is the Deli, where guests can have made to order
sandwiches.
Hamburgers and hot dogs are
available at the Grille.
Not all of the alternative dining venues are located
near the pools. On Deck 5, guests can have specialty
coffee and pastries at the Coffee Shop (right).
Alterntaively, sushi is available at the California
Roll (below).
