In early 2009, Carnival Sensation underwent
an extensive refit, which changed several
areas of the ship. This page contain a series
of photos taken in late 2008 that show what
she looked like before the refit. (See Deck
Plan from December 2008 )

Because of the addition to several sections of
balcony cabins as well as the addition of the
Waterworks on the top deck, Sensation's
silhouette changed significantly. This first
series of photos shows exterior views prior to
the refit.

The Fantasy Dining Room is
located amidships.

The Main Pool Area
underwent a significant set of
alterations. The 115 foot
water slide that had emptied
into the pool was eliminated.
Artificial palm trees were
placed in the area to provide
shade and to give it a more
resort like feel. Changes
were also made to the bars
and the hot tubs

The Waterworks area located aft of the
funnel displaced the Sports Deck Pool (left)
and the Basketball/volleyball court.

The City Sports Park was changed during the refit. The
large skylight that had been in the middle of the park was
eliminated and the golf practice cage was moved to where the
skylight had been.

The Waterworks area made the existing
Water Wars facilities (left) that had
been in the main pool area redundant and
so they were eliminated.

For much the same reason, the
Children's Pool area on Deck 9 was
converted into an adults-only Serenity
Retreat.
