CARNIVAL GLORY
PHOTO TOUR AND
COMMENTARY
OVERVIEW
At, 110,000 tons, CARNIVAL GLORY, the second
ship in the Conquest, class is slightly larger than
Carnival's popular Destiny class but has a similar
interior arrangement. The ships were designed with
warm weather cruising in mind, principally in the
Caribbean.
One particularly admirable aspect of Carnival's
approach to cruising is that although the ships may be
the same or very similar architecturally, there is a
conscious effort to differentiate them. Interior
designer Joe Farcus develops a theme for each ship
and develops this theme throughout the ship's public
rooms. Thus, each ship has its own feel and character.
On CARNIVAL GLORY, the theme is colors. This
does not mean that each room was just painted a
different color but that the decoration of the rooms
was inspired by the use of color in some famous place
around the world. For example, the Amber Palace
Lounge, the ship's theater, was inspired by the Amber
Room in Russia while the Golden and Silver Temples
in Kyoto, Japan were the inspiration for the Golden
and Platinum Dining Room. There are also visual
ideas that work off of plays on words. The central
atrium is the Old Glory Atrium - - Old Glory is a
nickname for the American flag,. A flag is also
known as the "colors," the decorating theme, and of
course, the ship is the GLORY. Accordingly, the
area contains patriotic motifs as well as strong colors.
Indeed, the atrium bar is the Colors Bar. All of this
serves to make the ship more interesting.
At the same time, past Carnival passengers familiar
with the layout of other Conquest class or Destiny
class ships will have no difficulty finding their way
around the GLORY. Thus, the ship is both different
and familiar.

Kaleidescope Boulevard runs along the
starboard side of Deck 5 passing the casino and
a number of other public rooms.
The Shore Excursions Desk and the Guest Services Desk (not shown) are
in the lobby of the Old Glory Atrium. The Shopping Destination Desk (right)
and the Future Cruise Desk (below) and on Kaleidoscope Boulevard.
The decorating theme carries through to the
passenger cabin decks with panels depicting
famous artists placed near the elevators (above).
Carnival is known for larger than average
staterooms. They are not opulent but utilize good
quality furnishings and are comfortable. Below
